Hand painted country kitchen cabinets are one of my favourite styles of kitchen to paint. I really do enjoy this type of work and get a great sense of satisfaction upon completion.
Bespoke kitchen maker Osborne of Ilkeston recommended me to paint their latest installation. A hand painted country kitchen, set in a lovely old cottage up in the Derbyshire hillside.
Osborne’s design team utilise every inch of space to help clients get the most from their kitchens. This one had a tall bank of units to one side incorporating; the fridge, oven, microwave and 2 large pull out larder units. A great space saving idea!

Once all the prep work is done, such as filling small nail holes and caulking all the joints in between the carcasses and cabinets. We then give the factory applied primer a good rub down with a fine abrasive to ensure the very best adhesion.
The paint we use is waterborne and is both durable and wipe able, it dries very quickly but doesn’t reach its full hardness for several days. Once fully cured it leaves a lovely soft smooth, almost chalky type finish.
The paint colours were matched by specialist paint supplier Holman Paints. They mix the paint into similar colours to Dovetail for the main units and Brassica for the canopy/mantle.
